Goodbye Kodus

Today we say goodbye to Kodi Taylor (Dec 17th 1997 -Aug 25th 2009)

Kodi, Kodus, Kodyssious, Kode, "The Big Cheese", "The Big Stinky Cheese", Cheesus (my favorite), Chotus, and most recently, "Stumbly" ..whatever you called him, it was with love. He was truly a piece of our family. We ate together, sharing ice cream and leftovers. We played together in the pool, at the beach, and in the snow. We slept in the same rooms and beds. He greeted each and every one of us as we came home through the doorway with a wag of his tail and a frisbee in his mouth.

The poor guy lived to be twelve and half years old until his rear legs finally got the best of him. Last night my parents had to put him down due to the pain. Apparently his liver had probably given out and led to complication in his brain. He had probably had a stroke at one point near the end because he was experiencing some paralysis on one side of his face. His life partner, Truman Charles Taylor was right there by his side the whole time. Tru is taking this loss as hard as anyone and has been refusing food. They had been virtually inseperable most of Truman's life.

We will really miss you Kodus, you were the best. I really would have liked to sing you your favorite song before you went - "You Are My Sunshine". I guess I will have to sing it to you in doggy heaven.
